The Art of Intentional Parenting – Session #4 – Balance, Boundaries & Resilience
November 13 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The Art of Intentional Parenting – A Series of Conversations About Family
OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY
Today’s families experience significant stress while attempting to navigate evolving social pressures. The Art of Intentional Parenting series will provide some basic guidelines and concrete skills for families to consider and utilize as they face challenging or adverse situations. These engaging and experiential sixty-minute sessions are designed so that each can stand-alone; they also build on each other if attended in sequence. A primary focus will be moving away from reactive or authoritarian responses and toward developing proactive and collaborative strategies.
Session 4: Balance, Boundaries, and Resilience We begin with an interactive discussion on the difficulty of finding balance in our lives, especially with respect to our parenting. Many parents consistently find themselves feeling overwhelmed with the pressure to be perfect. We will discuss the critical importance of developing and maintaining consistent boundaries; both protective and containment boundaries. We will also discuss Pia Mellody’s model of affirmation, nurturing, and setting negotiated limits. The session, and the series, ends with an exploration of resilience. We will offer skills that will assist families in developing systemic resilience and continuous growth.
