The Art of Intentional Parenting – Session #2 – Family Values
October 2 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The Art of Intentional Parenting – A Series of Conversations About Family
OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY
Today’s families experience significant stress while attempting to navigate evolving social pressures. The Art of Intentional Parenting series will provide some basic guidelines and concrete skills for families to consider and utilize as they face challenging or adverse situations. These engaging and experiential sixty-minute sessions are designed so that each can stand-alone; they also build on each other if attended in sequence. A primary focus will be moving away from reactive or authoritarian responses and toward developing proactive and collaborative strategies.
Session 2: A Look at “Family Values” All of the choices that we make, as individuals and as families, are the product of our value system. Values, those things that are the most meaningful to us, are frequently transmitted from one generation to the next without much thought or consideration. In this session we will ask each family in attendance to begin identifying and clarifying values. This is an essential first step in developing mutually supportive and growth fostering relational practices. We will also have a discussion on how needs, values, and belief systems interact to drive behavior.
